The return of musicals has become a bit of a trend again of late, and it only looks to continue in the new year with the arrival of Hugh Jackman-starring The Greatest Showman, and a new look at the film has been revealed.

20th Century Fox debuted the brand new trailer for director Michael Gracey's latest debuted earlier today, so check it out embedded below:

Despite an early 2017 release here, months and months ago, and given how stellar a year this has been for films, I think saying that La La Land is one of my favourites of the year says a lot about my love for that film. I've never been a fan of musicals, but it reinvigorated the formula and managed to get me - a sceptic for those films - excited about the future of the genre.

Well, that future looks like Hugh Jackman getting his singing and dancing shoes on for the first time since 2012's Les Miserables for The Greatest Showman. And I'll be damned, this film looks incredible. The trailer has a lot of heart and spirit to it and it looks like this film will be quite the heartwarming tale of pursuing your dreams. Of course, the music is sounding great too. And the cast is stellar; besides, any time you have Jackman in the leading role, I'm intrigued. Then have him singing? Oh, boy. This will definitely be one to watch when it opens come 2018!

Here's your synopsis, folks:
Inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
With Michael Gracey at the helm, and starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Zac Efron, and Zendaya, The Greatest Showman will shimmy into U.K cinemas on January 1st, 2018. What better way to welcome in the new year.
