With the first of Marvel Studio's three 2018 releases a mere few months our, today marks the beginning of marketing for their biggest film yet: next Summer's Avengers: Infinity War.

Our first look at the epic team-up comes thanks to Vanity Fair's HUGE feature on the MCU thus far, as well as what the future entails. With the 10 year anniversary on the horizon, 83 huge names that have all been apart of the MCU thus far collided for a celebratory photo-shoot - which just goes to show the sheer size this universe has gotten to since it's origins in 2008. Kevin Feige recalled the start of his empire, "people forget that Iron Man is an independent movie".
With 17 films in its canon, and a whole plethora yet to arrive, the MCU changed the cinematic landscape and Infinity War will be the culmination of everything thus far, but it's 2019's follow-up, Avengers 4, that will truly mark the end of an era. With so many of the tentpole OG stars - the likes of Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner - coming to the end of their contract with the studio in 2019, Avengers 4 will bring a close to the slate thus far. As Feige said, it will "bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale."

However, that's not to say the future is bleak for the MCU. Anything but. On the future of the MCU, Feige said this: "22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before—intentionally". He described their universe as one of two distinct identities, noting, "there will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting".
But that's getting ahead of ourselves now. As for Infinity War, though? VF released a whole slew of cool behind-the-scenes photos from their epic shoot, as well as 4 awesome VF covers, which brings together all of our heroes and shows us some of the cool new looks and suits we can expect next April/May.

Of course, the images give nothing away. Expectedly. The VF article was more of a retrospective on the MCU thus far than it was an Infinity War feature. However, it does tell us one big thing: the marketing has begun. With these new images, the Infinity War hype can truly begin and we can expect a teaser trailer online very soon. In fact, directors The Russo Brothers took to Instagram this morning to tease something big coming in 3 days. And with the arrival of this feature, we can imagine it would be official stills/a poster, if not the teaser - but that will most probably be online by the end of the week. Infinity War week has begun.

Here's the film's synopsis:
As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
With Joe and Anthony Russo at the helm, and starring the likes of (deep breath now, here we go), Robert Downey JrChris EvansChris HemsworthMark RuffaloJeremy RennerScarlett JohanssonElizabeth OlsenChris PrattZoe SaldanaBenedict CumberbatchTom HollandSebastian StanAnthony MackieChadwick BosemanPaul Rudd and Josh Brolin - alongside LOADS more - Avengers: Infinity War is coming to the U.K on April 27th, 2018.
