Oh, boy. So Hollywood is still trying to make a good video game adaptation. I don't know why, but they're adamant they will get it done. So, our first look at the next to come off the conveyor belt is here: Tomb Raider.

Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the first trailer for the forthcoming Tomb Raider adaption earlier this afternoon, so check it out below:

I will be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this first reveal. I do love Alicia Vikander as an actress and as Lara Croft but this trailer really doesn't do a whole lot to impress me or have me excited. Perhaps it's also just harder than ever to be excited for any video game adaption coming out of Hollywood right now after so many lacklustre efforts in recent memory. Vikander certainly looks like she'll be great in the role and the trailer does tease some interesting narrative arcs and some very cool imagery more in-line with the newly rebooted video games which I definitely like. However, the big action just feels a bit bland. We'll have to wait and see, though. Let's hope I'm wrong.

A featurette was also released and it features some more/different footage as well as Vikander talking about the film and becoming Lara Croft. It's actually pretty good, far superior to the trailer, in my opinion:

Here's the synopsis:
Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.
Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.
With Roar Uthaug at the helm, and starring Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Daniel Wu, and Walton Goggins, Tomb Raider arrives March 16th, 2018.

And here's the first poster; it's not the best - very bland and quite poorly photoshopped too - but posters in recent months haven't been all that impressive anyway so it just continues the trend:
