Around 3 years or so after the monumental (and surprising) success of The Lego Movie, this weekend finally brings us our first follow-up film in The Lego Batman Movie spin-off. However, if that's not enough for you, the first trailer and poster for The Lego Ninjago Movie have arrived too, with the promise of a second Lego-fied flick in 2017.

Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the first trailer for the forthcoming spin-off earlier this afternoon, ahead of the release of The Lego Batman Movie, which opens worldwide this weekend. Because... that's just a good marketing technique. Check it out below:

It's no surprise that I loved 2014's The Lego Movie. Heck, I even loved The Lego Batman Movie (you can read my review of it here). However, that's not the only Lego spin-off we're getting this year as The Lego Ninjago Movie is set to open later this Fall. Personally, I wasn't anticipating this film at all. Although, the success of the Lego films thus far has yet to discourage me from these films, and Ninjago certainly looks like a fun, action-packed animation.
The story follows Dave Franco's Lloyd, who is a secret ninja, protecting Ninjago City from the wrath of the evil lord Garmadon... who also just so happens to be his father. There's definitely some bad blood and family feuds going down in Ninjago. Accompanying the teaser, a neat poster for the film has also been released with a pretty inventive tagline, if I do say myself.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
In this big-screen NINJAGO adventure, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.
With Charlie Bean at the helm, and starring the voice talents of Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Olivia Munn, Michael Pena, and Jackie Chan, The Lego Ninjago Movie is set to come kicking brick on on September 22nd, 2017.

And here's the film's stylish, cleverly taglined poster:
