From Prisoners to Enemy and Sicario, director Denis Villeneuve has made quite the impression as an exciting new filmmaker to watch. This year brings his fourth feature film, Arrival, and the first trailer and poster for the stunning sci-fi drama have arrived.

Denis Villeneuve has become one of my favourite directors in recent years, releasing one great film after another. His last couple of projects have been fairly intelligent dramatic-thrillers. However, he is switching things up a little and making his first foray into the sci-fi genre with Arrival. Paramount have debuted the first trailer for it, so check it out below:

There's also an international trailer, from Sony Pictures, which features some different, extra footage and more plot details so here's that for you:

I am a huge sci-fi fan, as well as huge fan of Villeneuve's work, and I cannot wait to see this. Just like all of his films before this, Arrival has recently come out of nowhere and just taken the world by storm. The trailers don't give too much away but they tease some stunning visuals and the intelligent, atypical story that we've come to expect from a Villeneuve film, as well as just what looks to be a pretty cool, new sci-fi flick. The Prisoners director is set to tackle Blade Runner 2 next so to those that had doubts about him at the helm of the sequel to such an iconic movie, I think it's in very capable hands, because, it seems as though he knows how to make one hell of a sci-fi.

Denis Villeneuve is the helm, with Amy Adams leading an impressive cast that also includes Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg. Arrival opens on November 11th, 2016.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team - lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) - is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
Finally, here's the first poster for the film, which features the aliens' cool-looking ship or "U.F.O" looming over Earth:
