Back in April, season 6 of AMC's smash-hit series The Walking Dead ended on quite the cliffhanger that left fans in shock, excitement and wanting more. Now, ahead of its annual comic-con panel next week, the first image and poster for the show's forthcoming season have arrived.
Season 6 ended by introducing Jeffrey Dean Morgan's sinister bad guy Negan and had him pick off one of the characters with his trusty companion, the barbed-wire baseball bat Lucille. However, we just don't know who it was that met their demise. Now, as the first image from season 7 of the series shows us (debuted by Entertainment Weekly), The Walking Dead will pick up right where it left off 3 months ago and, as executive producer Greg Nicotero revealed to the site, we'll find out just who it was that sat at the wrong end of Lucille in the season 7 premere. Here's the image:
The season 6 finale was, in my opinion, great and Jeffrey Dean Morgan was truly exceptional as Negan. It'll be exciting to see season 7 pick up where we left off and jump straight back into the action. Also, if that's not enough to quench your TWD hunger, the first poster has also been revealed (in both banner and one-sheet form), ahead of the traditional, annual Comic-con panel and trailer debut from SDCC next week - it'll be online pretty soon afterwards and I'll be covering it here too so stay tuned next Friday afternoon for that.
The poster for the return of the hit AMC series is dark and exciting and lines up the characters we all know and love in front on Negan and Lucille, in a similar situation to how we saw them all kneeled down in front of him in the season 6 finale. Don't go looking for clues as to who died though because you won't find any, everyone is accounted for. We'll just have to wait til October to find out just who our new antagonist picked off. And here's the full, UK one-sheet:
It was also revealed just last week that, alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, actors Tom Payne, Austin Amelio and Xander Berkeley would now be joining the forthcoming season of the show as series regulars. Payne plays badass Jesus, whilst Amelio is Dwight and Berkeley will play Gregory - all of whom have appeared already towards the end of last season. This is great news because not only were they great characters but their addition shows that Negan and his crew won't just be appearing sporadically every so often but will very much be present often and a core, regular part of the story.
The Walking Dead Season 7 will star Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, Norman Reedus, Michael Cudlitz, Danai Gurira, Lennie James, Jeffrey Dean Morgan amongst many others, and will return to AMC in the US, and FOX here in the UK, this coming October.
