Just yesterday, we saw the first trailer for the Michael Fassbender starring Assassin's Creed. Now, following on from that, the new trailer for yet another one of his many films releasing this year - The Light Between Oceans - has released.

The film is based on M.L Stedman's novel of the same name and Derek Cianfrance, who's previous work includes Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines will be directing the adaption. Both of those films were incredible and really powerful so it'll be interesting to see how he tackles The Light Between Oceans, which, similarly, is a poignant drama. Michael Fassbender plays a lighthouse keeper with Alicia Vikander as his wife and the film will follow their lives after they rescue and raise a baby that got stranded and comes adrift.

A brand-new trailer for the forthcoming film has released and it is truly beautiful and devastating and tear-jerking and heart-breaking all at the same time. Fassbender and Vikander are exceptionally talented, as is Cianfrance, and the supporting cast are also stellar too, which makes this such a promising film and, from the trailer, it looks to deliver on that promise and really pack a punch. November can't come soon enough.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
In the years following World War I, Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender), a young veteran still numb from his years in combat, takes a job as lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, a remote island off the coast of Western Australia. As the island’s sole inhabitant, he finds comfort in the monotony of the chores and the solitude of his surroundings. When he meets the daughter of the school’s headmaster, Isabel Graysmark (Alicia Vikander), in the local town of Partageuse on the mainland, Tom is immediately captivated by her beauty, wit and passion, and they are soon married and living on the island.
As their love flourishes, he begins to feel again, their happiness marred only by their inability to start a family, so when a rowboat with a dead man and infant girl mysteriously washes ashore, Isabel believes their prayers may have finally been answered. As a man of principle, Tom is torn between reporting the lost child and pleasing the woman he loves, and against his better judgment he agrees to let Isabel raise the child as their own, making a choice with devastating consequences.
With Derek Cianfrance at the helm, and starring Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Rachel Weisz, The Light Between Oceans opens sometime later this year - a release date will be announced very soon, most likely.
