One of the biggest films in the last few years - not only commercially but critically too - was last year's The Force Awakens. With Star Wars now back and bigger than ever before, all eyes are on this Christmas' spin-off film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and it has received a teaser trailer.

The Force Awakens was one of my favourite films of last year and, whilst Episode VIII is still over a year away, set to release December 2017, we're not out of Star Wars films to get excited about. Back when Disney first bought LucasFilm and revealed that a new trilogy was in the works, it was also revealed that the studio were going to be bringing us spin-off films every other year - so we've basically got a Star Wars film every year for the next decade or so - the first of which is Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Whilst it was expected that we'd get our first look at Rogue One on May 4th and appear alongside Captain America: Civil War, the teaser trailer for the forthcoming spin-off has arrived today instead and it is INCREDIBLE! The reveal doesn't give too much away but it sets up the premise nicely and introduces us to Felicity Jones' rebel soldier. Action is in abundance here as the film teases an all-out war and there are ships, AT-AT's and Stormtroopers aplenty too because, despite being a spin-off, Rogue One actually FEELS like it is a Star Wars film, set in the Star Wars world. The iconic theme tune at the end is a delight too.

Taking place between Episode III and Episode IV, the film will follow a group of rebel bounty hunters trying to steal the plans to the Death Star. As director Edwards said about the film, at last year's Star Wars Celebration, "It’s about the fact that God’s not coming to save us. The absence of the Jedi hangs over the movie."

With Gareth Edwards at the helm, and starring Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna and Mads Mikkelsen, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits U.K cinemas on December 14th, 2016.
