This Summer is rife with its offerings of blockbusters, with plenty to cherry-pick from, especially with superhero epics in abundance, but one of my most anticipated films of this year's Summer movie season is a live-action reimagining of a Disney classic - The Jungle Book - and it has received a hypnotising new IMAX trailer to get us even more excited.

Jon Favreau's live-action remake is a mere couple of weeks away from releasing and Disney have debuted a new look at the film - via an "IMAX Featurette" - introduced by Lupita Nyong'o, who voices the mother wolf Raksha. The trailer gives an extended look at Neel Sethi's scene with Kaa and Scarlett Johannsson seems like perfect casting for the hypnotising python. The reveal also shows off the rest of its impressive cast and continues to stun visually, with some gorgeous landscapes and settings inhabiting this world and the classic Rudyard Kipling tale.
If that's not enough, Bill Murray (who voices Baloo) and Neel Sethi made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where they both sang the iconic The Jungle Book song Bare Necessities and it has been embedded beneath the trailer below. The first press screenings for the film have also happened and the early reaction seems to be pretty positive - which is really exciting. I'll be seeing the film soon too so be sure to keep an eye out for my review of the film in the coming couple of weeks.
Here's the film's official synopsis:
Directed by Jon Favreau (“Chef,” “Iron Man,” “Elf”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johannsson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.
With Jon Favreau at the helm and starring Neel Sethi as Mowgli, with the voice talents of Bill Murray as Baloo, Sir Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johannsson as Kaa, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Lupita Nyong'o as the mother wolf Raksha and Giancarlo Esposito as alpha male wolf Akela, The Jungle Book opens on April 15th, 2016.
