Almost 3 years since his last film, the brilliant Only God Forgives, and Nicolas Winding Refn is finally set to release his next project, "a horror film about vicious beauty", The Neon Demon, and a glorious first trailer for the film has been released.

Winding Refn's latest film revolves around a young model, played by the always talented Elle Fanning, who gets caught up in the dark side of the L.A scene when some "beauty-obsessed women" come after her. We've seen the sweet and lovable side of Fanning before, with the likes of Super 8 and Maleficent, but The Neon Demon will show us a darker side to the young actress because, as we find out, her character Jesse isn't quite as vulnerable and innocent as we may have first thought.

This evening, the first trailer for the forthcoming horror flick has been released and it's remarkable. The reveal doesn't give too much away in terms of premise but it is an intoxicating and beautiful trailer, nonetheless. I'm a huge fan of Winding Refn's, as I am of Fanning's and I cannot wait to see the pair work together on this film - even more so now after seeing this trailer. I love the dark and mysterious tone to it and am excited to see Winding Refn return to the streets of L.A for the first time since Drive. Of course, as we'd expect from the director, I'm sure there will be plenty of stunning, jaw-dropping shots in the film and we certainly get a tease of some vibrant, gorgeous cinematography in the stylish reveal.

Here's the film's synopsis:
When aspiring model Jesse (Elle Fanning) movies to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women that will do anything to take what she has.
With Nicolas Winding Refn at the helm, and starring Elle Fanning, Abbey Lee, Bella Heathcote, Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone and Keanu Reeves, The Neon Demon will premiere at Cannes next month before hitting the U.S in June and, hopefully, the U.K soon after.
