Almost 30 years since the original Ghostbusters released and, now, we're finally set to receive the hugely anticipated, all-female reboot of the classic blockbuster and, today, the first trailer for Paul Feig's take on the iconic film has arrived.

In today's day and age, with all sorts of old films getting rebooted and remade and getting long-overdue sequels, it was only a matter of time before Ghostbusters received a modern retelling. Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig are all set to star in the film, replacing Rick Moranis, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray (who will have a cameo in the 2016 remake). So far, we've only seen images of the cast, as well as some cool character one-sheets from a couple of months back (which I have attached below for your viewing pleasure, you're welcome) but now, our first actual look at footage from the film has arrived.

This afternoon, Sony Pictures have debuted the first trailer for their forthcoming reboot and it's incredible. The reveal sets up the premise and the tone of this new film very nicely and does a good job at introducing our new cast and setting up the Ghostbusters world once again. The reveal starts off fairly dark and ominous but, of course, the quirk and wit begins fairly quickly after and it's great. The trailer seems to capture the magic and feel of the original; it's a very fun trailer that is promising so I'm remaining optimistic about this remake. Oh, and that new teaser poster accompanying the trailer is a nice modern update of the iconic logo - nostalgia ahoy.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!
With Paul Feig at the helm, and starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth, Ghostbusters is set to hit cinemas this Summer, on July 15th, 2016.
