This year may be a big year for both Marvel and DC - with the former launching Phase 3 and the latter, their cinematic universe - but it's also a big year for 20th Century Fox and the X-Men too. Just last month, we received the incredible Deadpool and, now, we're only a couple of months away from X-Men: Apocalypse and an epic new poster has debuted for the film.

2014's Days of Future Past is one of my favourite X-Men films and First Class, is up there too. The prequel trilogy has been incredible thus far and Apocalypse is looking to be the biggest and best yet, set to conclude the trilogy of films starring the younger versions of our iconic mutants. And, with Bryan Singer returning to the helm, directing a star-studded ensemble, this is shaping up to be one of next year's biggest superhero flicks.

Fox have debuted a brand-new poster for the forthcoming blockbuster and it's epic and dark and apocalyptic. The one-sheet gives us our first official look at our eponymous villain's infamous Four Horsemen - Angel (Ben Hardy), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) - and, with the caption "destroy", it promises the darkest, moodiest and most destructive X-Men film yet. Oscar Isaac's titular Apocalype can be seen in the background too and he looks epic; our team of superheroes are really in for one hell of a battle this Summer.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
With Bryan Singer at the helm, newcomers Tye SheridanAlexandra ShippKodi-Smit McPheeSophie Turner and Oscar Isaac will joining returning actors Evan Peters James McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult for X-Men: Apocalypse, which is set to release in cinemas on May 27th, 2016.
