Well, isn't this a great surprise. Just when you thought your week couldn't get any better, it did, because Marvel have debuted the first trailer for next year's Captain America: Civil War, alongside some first posters so choose your side, folks, because the MCU is being divided.

Last night, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to not only debut the teaser poster for the forthcoming sequel but they also released the first trailer for Civil War and, in simple, it's epic. The trailer sheds some light on how the conflict between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers arise, whilst still showing us that - as the title suggest- this film belongs to the latter. The scope of this film looks huge too and for those that had doubts of this being too similar to The Avengers films, rest assured that this looks like a completely different film. Accompanying the reveal, a teaser poster has been uneviled and, since then, two further character posters which give us a look at both sides of the battle.

Being the Marvel fan that I am, I have to say that this year's Age of Ultron was massivley disappointing so it's refreshing to see that Civil War looks very different, feeling a lot more like The Winter Soldier in tone - which makes sense since this is the direct sequel to that, also considering that film was great. The teaser is packed with footage and it all looks great; it seems as though Downey Jr's Tony Stark is being played as the antagonist here. We get a quick glimpse at Chadwick Boseman's newcomer Black Panther too which is great, although there's no sign of Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, or Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo or Tom Holland's Peter Parker - who will be making his return to the MCU in the blockbuster next year. But there's still plenty time to go until the release of the film, in which I'm sure we'll get a look at these characters.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
With Joe and Anthony Russo at the helm, and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian StanScarlett Johannson, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman, Jeremy Renner and Paul Rudd, Captain America: Civil War opens on April 28th, 2016.
