Last week was big for trailers, with lots and lots of them releasing, but it's not all over yet as Sony Pictures have just debuted the teaser trailer and poster for their forthcoming film adaption of the mega-hit mobile game, Angry Birds.

Video game based films have the tendency to be bad - just use last month's Hitman: Agent 47 as a prime example. However, between Warcraft, Assassin's Creed and, now, Angry Birds, 2016 may be the year to break the curse and finally start delivering us some good adaptations. Just last month, the long-awaited sequel to Rovio's hit mobile game released too and went straight to the top of the charts and with animation at a high right now, the Angry Birds film is really shaping up to be something special.

This evening, Sony Pictures have unleashed a mighty teaser trailer for the upcoming animation on us and it's - thankfully - actually pretty good. Not only does the animation itself look slick and stunning but the reveal showcases a lot of good humour and action too. The trailer sets up the premise nicely and offers just enough to get us excited or, intrigued at the very least. The stellar voice cast seem to bring the iconic birds to life brilliantly too and the film seems to keep close to its source material as well, which is nice to see. We also have a pretty cool little teaser poster accompanying the teaser, featuring our one and only lead protagonist, Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) looking, well, angry.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis – We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride – This is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.
With Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis at the helm, and starring the voice talents of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Peter Dinklage, Angry Birds is set to open on May 13th, 2016.
