Just last week, the teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's hotly anticipated eight film, The Hateful Eight, released (see it here) and, now, hot on the heels of that, a whole slew of character posters for the film have been unveiled.
The one-sheets, of which there are seven, put the spotlight on our titular eight crooks. The first of them, featuring Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh's characters, was debuted alongside the trailer and the other six have been released individually since then. The posters are pretty cool and our lead characters all look so intimidating and badass and I can't wait to see the tension and the interaction between them all when the film releases.
Tarantino is one of my favourite directors working today and, from everything we've seen and heard about The Hateful Eight up until now, it really sounds like this is going to be another triumphant film for the acclaimed director. It has an intriguing plot and one of his most impressive cast ensembles to date. The first trailer was suspenseful and exciting and these character posters are just as much so. You can find all seven posters at the bottom of this article.
Here's the film's official synopsis:
In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all.
With Quentin Tarantino at the helm, and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, Channing Tatum, Demian Bichir, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bruce Dern and Walton Goggins, The Hateful Eight is set to release here in the U.K on January 8th.
