Bryan Cranston has taken on nefarious drug dealers and even an angry 50ft mutant lizard in recent years - Breaking Bad and Godzilla for those of you not too familiar with his filmography. And, now, he's being blacklisted in the first trailer (and poster) for his latest film, Trumbo.

MovieClips debuted the first trailer for the film, which tells the true story of the acclaimed, Oscar winning 1940's screenwriter Dalton Trumbo who got blacklisted (along with other Hollywood figures) due to standing up for his political beliefs. Not letting this stop him, Trumbo began writing under various fake names and even managed to win not one but two more Oscars before he was caught in the 60's. Austin Powers director Jay Roach takes the helm of the project to share Trumbo's iconic story with the world.

The trailer for the film is fantastic. This film looks great. Ever since his iconic performance as Walter White in the hit TV series Breaking Bad ended in 2013, Bryan Cranston has starred in several features. However, he hasn't exactly had a lead role since - until now. It's safe to say, the actor looks at home as Dalton Trumbo and I cannot wait to see what he brings to the role. Accompanying the reveal, a first poster for the biopic has also been unveiled and it looks pretty suave and stylish, also giving us a better idea of the stellar cast that'll be joining Cranston for the picture.

Here's the film's official synopsis:
The successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. TRUMBO (directed by Jay Roach) tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.
With Jay Roach at the helm, and starring Bryan Cranston, Elle Fanning, John Goodman, Diane Lane, Louis C.K and Helen Mirren, Trumbo is set to release here in the UK early next year, on January 22nd.
