Yesterday was superhero madness at Comic-con, with Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Deadpool and more. One of the big films showcased during Fox's huge, epic panel was X-Men: Apocalypse. Not only was the whole cast there but a teaser trailer was also shown and it was blew the roof off Hall H.

Just before the film's presentation, Deadpool was on-stage and, well, let's just say that the forthcoming Days of Future Past follow-up had some big shoes to fill. But, when Bryan Singer and the whole cast of the film appeared on stage and showed the footage, they didn't disappoint and managed to get Hall H into an uproar.

Joining the director on stage for the presentation was James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, Evan Peters, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi-Smit McPhee, Lucas Till, Lana Condor, Ben Hardy and Olivia Munn. It was a pretty packed panel. They didn't come empty-handed either as we got our first look at a teaser trailer for the film.

Now, it was revealed that the footage shown in Hall H was only from the first five weeks or so of filming. There was very little, if any, special effects in what we saw. The majority of it was just a look at the characters in the film and getting an idea of the film's story. It was still awesome, nonetheless. The trailer was rough though (there's still just under a year until this releases) so don't expect to see this teaser online anytime soon - officially, that is anyway. However, you can find my full breakdown of the Apocalypse footage below.
Here's what we saw:

The footage begins with the opening of the X-door. We then get some quick shots of disaster breaking out and a vision of an apocalyptic future before we're introduced to Sophie Turner's iteration of a young Jean Grey. “I saw the end of the world. I could feel all this death,” she says. Charles Xavier is standing next to her bed, trying to calm the frightened girl down telling her that “it was just a dream.” A voiceover plays over a flying shot of a city. The voice belongs to Oscar Isaac's titular villain Apocalypse, “I’ve been called many things over many lifetimes. Ra, Krishna, Yaweh.”

Cut to Rose Byrne who returns, from X-Men: First Class, as Moira Mactaggart. She's speaking to Xavier, “Ever since the world found out about mutants there have been secret societies, cults, who see them as some kind of second coming or sign of god.” We see a hooded figure walking into a room, most likely Apocalypse. We then hear the first narrator again as he says, "I was there to spark and fan the flames of man's awakening. There to spin the wheel of civilization."  We're back with Moira speaking again. "I was tracking one of them, they believe that tens of thousands of years ago an ancient being was born. The world's first..." she continues. But, before she can finish the sentence, Xavier interrupts: "...mutant."

All the while, throughout the teaser, we’ve been getting shots of some of the mutants. We see Jennifer Lawrence, in human form, as Raven, loking worried, there's Beast. Days of Future Past fan-favourite Quicksilver makes a return too and we see him, looking tense. An also returning Havok is in the X-Base, as well as Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, suited and booted. There are a few quick glimpses at the same hooded figure from earlier as well as Apocalypse’s chestplate, emblazoned with his iconic 'A'. Magneto stands in a forest, with men with guns coming towards him. "You are all my children. And you’re lost. Because you follow the wrong leader. Everything they’ve built will fall, and from the ashes of their world we’ll build a better one," voices Apocalypse again. He sounds big, brooding and menacing. We get to see Kodi-Smit McPhee as Nightcrawler and our first look at a young Storm. However, the latter is standing with Apocalypse.

Apocalypse and Storm enter what appears to be a factory or similar building of some sort where a rugged, pretty beaten Magneto appears. He's standing with some other mutants. Michael Fassbender revealed that Erik's unsure of his place in this new world, with the new found respect for mutants. He's still bad but is trying to turn over a new leaf. He turns to face the big bad: “Who the fuck are you?” At this moment, the camera cuts to a mohawk doffing Storm and, standing next to her, is a blue/purple faced, armored mutant; our first look at Apocalypse and he looks awesome. There are detailed patterns on his face and all over his armour. The makeup and effects are incredible and this is one menacing villain. He stares Magneto down before replying, “come and see.”

We get some sizzle-reel shots that follow, putting the spotlight on more of the film's many mutants. Quicksilver runs through the X-Base. Olivia Munn's Psylocke is also seen and she looks great too, her costume very true to the one she has in the comics. Cut to Apocalypse standing in the X-Base, with Magneto, Psylocke, Storm and Angel at his side - as his four horsemen. Magneto raises Xavier and his chair and pulls them towards him. In the next shot, we see Raven yet again as she says, "Mutants are being hunted, living in fear." She's reunited with Charles but mentions how she's not leaving him this time, "I'm here to fight." There's something in there about a great storm coming too.

Xavier is trying on Cerebro, and the camera starts to pan closer to him. “He can control all of us,” he says. A tear rolls down his face and he looks pretty distraught. Next is a close up on Xavier, with the Cerebro helmet on. His eyes slowly turn black and he says, "I’ve never felt power like this before." Cut to the X-Men: Apocalypse. Post-title treament comes the best shot of the reveal the as the X-door open and present there is Charles Xavier but as the iconic, classic Professor X. It's a bald McAvoy, sitting in the wheelchair, wearing the grey suit and he looks so damn great. He looks directly into the camera and we fade to black.

Pretty badass, right? I absolutely adored the footage. I's worth noting that I tried to get my desciption as accuracte as possible but it was a long reveal and was only shown twice so the order of things may be a little skewed. Days of Future Past was one of my favourite films of last year. I'm a huge fan of this franchise, especially the films featuring the younger cast. Ever since it was announced, I have been looking forward to X-Men: Apocalypse and it looks like it's going to be the darkest, most ambitious and most amazing X-Men film yet and I can't wait, even more so now after seeing the remarkable trailer.

With Bryan Singer at the helm, newcomers Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi-Smit McPhee, Sophie Turner and Oscar Isaac will joining returning actors Evan Peters James McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult for X-Men: Apocalypse, which is set to release in cinemas on May 27th, 2016.
