3 years since his last project - the lacklustre Lincoln - and, this year, Steven Spielberg is back in the directing chair, this time his Cold-War drama Bridge of Spies. Well, this evening, the first trailer and poster have arrived.

When the incredible, Award winning tag-team pairing of Spielberg and Tom Hanks work together, you're guaranteed a great film. Throw in a script, penned by the notorious Coen Brothers and what you have is the true definition of must-see film. With one of the most impressive teams lending their heavyweight talent (both behind and in front of the camera) to Bridge of Spies, this is a film already a favourite to score big when it comes to Awards season.

Based on a true story, Hanks plays an everyday American lawyer who's life is turned upside down when he is thrown, by the CIA, into the middle of a crisis, during the Cold War, involving a captured American pilot. This evening, Dreamworks have debuted the film's first trailer and it's packed with your typical Spielberg drama. It looks great.

Accompanying the reveal, a first poster for the project has also been unveiled. Featuring a tense looking Hanks, against the clashing American and Soviet Union flags, it's a very cold and dramatic (but eye-catching) looking one-sheet. The caption also sums up the plot of the film perfectly; "In the shadow of war, one man showed the world what we stand for."

Here's the film's official synopsis:
A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, DreamWorks Pictures/Fox 2000 Pictures’ “Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Screenwriters Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen have woven this remarkable experience in Donovan’s life into a story inspired by true events that captures the essence of a man who risked everything and vividly brings his personal journey to life.
With Steven Spielberg at the helm, and starring Tom Cruise, Mark Rylance, Alan Ada, Austin Stowell and Amy Ryan, Bridge of Spies is set to open in the UK on October 9th, 2015. Mark your calendars, this is one not too miss.
