We've seen him endure the challenges of babysitting. We've seen him battle big guys, jacked up on baby oil. He even took on an evil space lord - with a 3-word limited vocabulary - but, now, Vin Diesel is taking on his most usual opponent yet, in the teaser trailer (and poster) for The Last Witch Hunter.

There's a Riddick-esque feel to the kind of tone and theme of this film, I think. However, Diesel's character Kaulder brings to mind his xXx counterpart Xander. Then we have the action in this, resembling the epic, kick ass sequences in something like Furious 7 or Guardians of the GalaxyThere's a whole variation of prior Diesel properties brought to mind. Yet, there's a seemingly fun and unique vibe to the teaser for The Last Witch Huner that can't quite contrast to his other films.
Say what you will about the Fast and Furious films; I find them a lot of fun. I think Vin is a great actor. I'm also quite an aficionado of the sci-fi and fantasy genres and this looks to take them to a whole new level as the battles against witches is taken to a much bigger, more modern scale. I wouldn't go as far as saying the reveal is 'amazing' but it's certainly entertaining and has me intrigued, if slightly excited for what's coming. It's also great seeing Diesel take on such the role of such a mystical, fantastical warrior.
Accompanying the reveal, a teaser poster for the picture has also been debuted and it looks pretty cool, if nothing else. We have the blood (or something similar) covered hand grabbing the burning sword and the caption "Live Forever. Hunt Forever." Pretty damn cool, if you ask me.
Here's the film's official synopsis:
The modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for centuries, including KAULDER, a valiant warrior who managed to slay the all-powerful QUEEN WITCH, decimating her followers in the process. In the moments right before her death, the QUEEN curses KAULDER with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Today KAULDER is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to KAULDER, the QUEEN WITCH is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human race.
With Breck Eisner at the helm and starring Vin Diesel, Elijah Wood, Rose Leslie, Julie Engelbrecht and Michael Caine, The Last Witch Hunter opens, over in the U.S, on October 23rd, 2015 and will reach us, here in the UK, the following month, on November 6th, 2015.
