With just over a year remaining until one of the most anticipated films ever - Star Wars: The Force Awakens - is upon us, the film's first trailer is expected quite soon. By that, I mean VERY soon and, by that, I mean this weekend!

***UPDATE: If you don't live in the U.S then not too worry as The Force Awakens teaser will be up ONLINE this Friday! Of course, stay tuned here on Friday for that...***

Recently, speculation surrounding when we'll be seeing the first trailer (or teaser most likely) for the 7th film in the returning franchise rocketed sky high! Despite what the different reports suggest, all the trades pointed to it releasing in one specific month: December.

Some reports suggested we'd be seeing the trailer alongside a TV show on ABC. Then we hear that Disney were planning on premiering the reveal before The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The truth is, no one really knew what the studios had up their sleeve. But, what we did know was that they had BIG plans for what is, obviously, going to be one of the biggest trailers ever. So, what IS happening?

Basically, as a Reddit user has suggested, it will be arriving just  in select cinemas, in the U.S, before every single showing of every single film. Of course, most people thought it was just crazy fan bullshit but sources for our and it soon started to seem like it was really going to happen. However, people were questioning whether or not even doing what was planned was possible.

Well, today, The Force Awakens director J. J Abrams has taken to Twitter and, using his special note technique, has announce that all this is true (you can see the tweet at the end). The teaser trailer really WILL be premiering this weekend, before every single showing of every single movie - only at a few certain cinemas though.

StarWars.com have released the full list of places that will be showcasing the trailer (all are in the US) so check it out, at the bottom of this article.

Of course, this coming weekend will be Thanksgiving weekend (in the U.S) and it typically tends to pull in larger numbers than usual, at the box-office, so having the first look at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer play this weekend is clever as it means it'll be seen A LOT of people and having this reveal will definitely boost the weekend's grossed figures.

Whilst I know that the teaser won't show off too much (I bet it'll be frustratingly plain and teasing), it's still sure to be HUGE and exciting! Plus, there's nothing better than seeing a trailer - one as big as this one - for the first time, on the big-screen. It's definitely a BIG, unique idea and it certainly matches the sheer scale that Disney and LucasFilm wanted for the teaser launch!

I also like the Tie Fighter blowing something up and the underlining of excellent in the image Abrams posted. Could we see glimpses of a Tie Fighter in action? I'm rather excited to find out what we actually will get to see - however brief it may be.

Here's the full list of theatres helping the trailer this weekend below. Check it out and see if any are near you!
